Going YESSS, YAMAN With My 4 Pre-Loved Items!

pre-loved4I can’t believe how time flies so quickly! I was content with Bryce’s bedroom, but after three years, I just have to make some changes. With the addition of our daughter, Kenya, who is now almost 10 month old, and Bryce starting on homeschooling, that bedroom needs to be redecorated. And in order to do that, I have to sell most of the items in the bedroom. (By the way, I’m joining a Nuffnang contest so pardon the post title. Hehe!)

1. Trundle bed (48″x75″) with drawers (P5,000.00-mattress included, if you want)bryce-bed3bryce-bed4I designed this bed for Bryce when we decided to let Bryce sleep in a separate bedroom. We have existing double  (48″x75″) and single (36″) mattresses so I had to base the design on them. The remaining space under the bed was utilized as storage for Bryce’s toys. Bryce’s room also serves as a guest room whenever my folks stay over so the extra mattress was really useful until I turned the single mattress into our sofa.

I’m planning to have a single bed for Bryce and a toddler bed for Kenya. Yes, they will be sharing a room since we don’t have an extra room in the house. But someday, Kenya will have her own. So this too-huge-bed-for-a-kid now has to go…

2. Ikea Malm 6-Drawer Dresser Replica (P5,000.00)

ikea-malmI love IKEA but since we don’t have it here in the Philippines, I had this dresser done by a carpenter. This is our first “bespoke” furniture and has served our family well especially before we had our second floor renovated when the built-in cabinets smelled like a century old chest. Bryce used it for more than 3 years and then Kenya had it. Now, they will both be sharing the built-in cabinet so I had to let this one go to. I wouldn’t if only we have space for it…

make-overI love this so much that I still want it to have a make over. Maybe make it classy for the master bedroom by painting gold lines on it or just add simple leather pulls.

ombreIt can stay in the kids bedroom still by painting the drawers in different colors or how about ombre? If you’re interested in being the new owner and would like to have it re-done, feel free to contact me. I’d be happy to customize it for you. :)

3. Kids Table and Chair (P200)kids-tableThis had been Bryce’s study table which I painted with chalkboard paint so he didn’t have to draw on the walls. I need to have this replaced by a proper desk since he’s a big boy now!

4. Floor Lamp (P400)

lampLike I’ve said, most of the items in the bedroom have to go. I’m totally changing the look of this bedroom since they will be sharing this room soon.

Please help me get rid of these four pre-loved items so I can start on my new decorating project! :) See my ad here in OLX.PH.

Sneak Peek: My Corner Office

This is going to be just a very short post since my eyes are still burning and my head still feels like being fried. It had been quite a frustrating week since I got sick with flu on Tuesday. Yea, on a holiday when I was supposed to be finishing up my home office, I was practically bedridden with achy muscles and fever that didn’t go below 38℃! That said, after more than a month, I’m still not yet through with this space in our house.

Anyway, I’m just so excited to share that I have at least finished my hand-painted herringbone wall. I still have to do the other side of the wall though. Hopefully, I’m all better next week. So here’s a glimpse of my home office…home officeThe wooden shelf brackets are still bare. Gotta stain that next week too… And look at my framed vintage ads from my 1967 issue of Vogue! Bought that Vogue from one of the shops in Cubao Expo for P250 a couple of years ago. I just love the hand-drawn ads. Reminds me of college days…Hehehe!vintage-ad1967That’s it for now. I’m going to sleep again. What do you think of the progress?

How to Make Deep Cabinets Work

At last, I finally managed to organize one area of our home that had been quite unruly for sometime, our “pantry”. Since the kitchen is so small and is lacking proper storage, I had this cabinet built so I can have a storage for our food supplies, unused plates and glasses, baking wares, etc.

Taking pictures in this area of our house is hard because there’s no natural light coming in and it is just not nice to include the DIY paper light shade I did last year. So forgive the low quality pictures. Hehe!

So anyway, the image on the left was taken a few days after the cabinet was built which was about 2 years ago, hence the clutter free (and style-less) look. Being a bad blogger that I am, I, again forgot to take the “before” picture. Even though I bought one more of that big seagrass basket for the canned goods and noodles, you can imagine how messy-looking it got after more than a year of storing our often used items there. It was an eye sore and I hate it especially when our house help randomly places the items in the shelf.

Because the fridge will be placed beside the shelf, I wanted them to be the same depth. 30″ for shelves is too deep. It’s hard to reach the items at the back so I bought baskets. The downside of it, though, is that the baskets aren’t deep enough so I wasn’t maximizing the full storage capacity of the shelf. The solution: install shallow drawers. :)

The shelf is now divided into nine cubbyholes minimize the clutter. I don’t want to just install cabinet doors because I still want to display stuff there so I had the three middle ones left open. The top two with doors don’t have drawers since it would be too high to reach the back part anyway. I have my extra dishes, serving trays and salad spinner stored in there.

For the lower doors, “tray-drawers” were installed to accommodate tall containers such as milk and cereals.

Since the middle part is still too deep for displays, I had stoppers glued in the middle. The I cut a foam board to fit the opening and painted it yellow, the same color as our dining wall. That way, I can use the back part as “secret” storage for other stuff not exactly worth displaying or used rarely like alcohol, old recipe magazines, product boxes, etc. Now, every inch of the shelf is fully utilized! :)

Now, I have to organize the rest of the house!
